Custom Integrated circuit layout
ASIC Engineering Company
specializes in analog & mixed mode, CMOS & BICMOS custom ICs. We have extensive experience in custom low
noise, low voltage, and low power, mixed mode ICs.
Digital ASICs are, in general, straightforward
to design. Their behavior can largely be predicted by circuit
simulation, and layout effects are of secondary importance.
They can be put together quickly with existing pre-designed cells
from the ASICE library, which
include most common cells from 0.25 µm through 2 µm technologies.
Analog and mixed mode (contains both
analog and digital circuits) ASICs however, are not as straight
forward to design, and it's in this area that the expertise at
ASICE
can be invaluable. An intimate knowledge of process and layout effects is
of primary importance to a successful design. ASICE has
years of experience in what it takes to insure that your ASIC works as
designed.

Low cost, fast turn around prototyping
services
A primary service provided by
ASIC Engineering Company is low cost linear and mixed-mode integrated
circuit prototyping. ASICE has
extensive experience with MOSIS VLSI Fabrication Service. The MOSIS
service allows manufacturers to develop IC based product prototypes at
a fraction of the fabrication cost by sharing a lot with other manufacturers
instead of paying for a dedicated lot at a commercial IC foundry.

Flexible approaches to finished ICs
available
ASIC Engineering Company
offers various paths to your finished custom IC, from full
turnkey to just minor design tweaks and fabrication submittal.
ASICE can
also start with pre-existing specifications, schematics, or even layouts that
a customer wants ASICE to
insure that their prototype ASIC will work as desired. Or, if
you have an existing discrete design, ASICE
can make you more competitive in today's market with custom
ASICs. ASICE prototypes
are surprisingly affordable. There are very few circuits that you
may use that would not benefit from being converted into a custom ASIC, especially
if you use many of them.

Full turn key ASICs
ASICE
full turnkey solution:
- Start with just an idea of yours.
- Develop it into a chip specification
and circuit requirements.
- Design a circuit schematic that
will meet the requirements.
- Fully simulate the circuit using
the latest process parameters for the chosen foundry.
- Layout the integrated circuit.
- Verify that the layout exactly
matches the circuit schematic.
- Submit the layout to the foundry
for a prototype run.
- Wirebond samples into packages
for testing.
- Deliver packaged parts to customer
for evaluation.
- After successful customer evaluation,
a full lot of parts can then be started.

Complete state-of-the-art design simulation
Circuits are fully simulated using
state-of-the-art models and the latest process parameters
for the chosen foundry. As layout progresses, parasitic capacitances
are extracted from layout and circuit schematic is back annotated and
re-simulated. Great care is taken to insure that finished ASICs work
as intended.

Design Verification
ASICE
has years of experience in designing ICs that successfully
do what they were intended to do, and has perfected a series
of checks that are now an integral part of the design process.

Fabrication Interface
Each application requires that the
correct process be used to be successful.
ASIC Engineering Company has design experience with a number of
IC foundries, including XFab, AMI, HP/Agilent, AMS, SMC, TSMC,
& Mitel. ASICE can
handle all foundry details such as submittal, mask integration, & packaging.
